Our warm up was a review of symbiosis. We graded our homework as a group grade. We watched a little more of the video "Living Together" as a review of symbiosis. On page 62 we took notes on ecosystems. If you were not here today, here are the notes. Next the students created a predator-prey graph showing the relationship among the numbers of predators vs. the number of prey. Students were given the data and graph paper in class. Here is the handout we used in class, you can use your own graph paper if you were not in class, or come by and get graph paper from me. Warm up today was a review of homologous and analogous structures. Commit this chart to memory for the quiz!! Today we went over symbiosis on page 61. Symbiosis is the study of the way organisms live together, If you were absent, here are the notes. After the quiz today, we completed a handout with different relationships between animals, you need to identify if the situation shows mutualism, commensalism, parasitism and predator-prey. Here is a copy of the handout if you lost yours. After the quiz, we watched a Trials of Life video on symbiosis. For each animal relationship we identified the relationship type and explained why it was commensalism, mutualism, and parasitism. Counseling Dept. Patriot Parent Workshop
The SWMS Counseling Department will be hosting their annual Patriot Parent Workshop Thursday January 26, 2017 from 6:15p-8:00p. The theme this year is “Beyond the Present”. Parents will have the opportunity to attend two 45-minute workshops on various topics that will help them support their student throughout your educational career.Every student who has a parent attend the workshop will be eligible for ten extra credit points to be added to their lowest grade in ONE of their CORE classes. Next we finished up our evolution stations on page 59. As a review of both Earth's history (Geological evolution) and Biological Evolution (natural selection)...we started our review brochure from this unit. These brochures will be used for review at the end of the year for EOG review. Below you will find the template for the brochure. This assignment will be due on Tuesday January 31st(A day) and Wednesday February 1st (B day). This will be a formal grade.

Reminder-Next class we will have a quiz on natural selection, adaptation, evolution and homologous and analogous structures. Pages 53-55 and 58 in your notebook.
