Warm up - Title page 100 - Healthy Living. Click on the link to open up the reading on Healthy Living. Answer the questions on page 100 in your notebook. 1. What are 4 major body systems? 2. I went around and checked your homework from last class (Earth History and Evolution)
Next, I lectured for a little bit on Natural Selection before we did some EOG practice. We took apart an old EOG and practiced a few questions at a time and graded the questions as we finished. The more practice questions you do, the better you will do on Friday. Lastly, we read pages 8-10 in the EOG booklet and highlighted as we went through the pages. We finished up with the vocabulary sections on
Here is the word bank for two of the sections. You are on your own for the biotechnology section. Our warm up reviewed hydrology right before the test. The test will only be 25 questions and will be scantron. We also completed our notebook checks for this unit. All grades should be updated by the end of the week.
Now on to EOG review. Everyone is getting an EOG review booklet. It is a small packet filled with content of all the material we have covered all year. You can highlight it, underline, circle it...it is YOURS! You should be reading in class, at home, on the bus and during chrome room. Any time you get a chance, read it! Remember, I only see you every other day, and that means only 6 days together before the science EOG. We are starting on Chemistry since it was the first unit of year. Since, we cannot reteach everything we have learned this year, we will be focusing on VOCABULARY and some key concepts for each unit. Today we focus on Chemistry vocabulary. Your job today is to read 2-4 in your packet and highlight important information and vocabulary and use the quizlet website to study vocabulary, Chemistry vocabulary https://quizlet.com/_3e21wj Our warm up today was a review of hydrology. Reminder test and notebook check will be NEXT class. It will be a shorter test, only 25 questions. We also went over your vocabulary assignment from last class. EOG prep is ALL about knowing the vocabulary! We did a couple reviews today one called infomational gap and also KAHOOT. Next, we added one last set of notes on characteristics of the ocean on page 97. If you were not here, here are the notes. Lastly, we started our EOG review, starting with Chemistry. Warm up today covered a review of water. Since I have been out, I am pushing the test to next Wednesday and Thursday. We will also have our notebook checks that day too. If you did not finish the assignment from last class on the ocean ecosystems on page 95, make sure it is completed by Thursday when we have our notebook check. If you were out today here are the handouts (pages 1-4 only). 1st and 4th block we are catching you up on acids and bases. Here are the notes that go on page 92. After our notes, we moved around the room and tested the pH of 15 chemicals around the room. We created a pH scale on page 93 in our notebooks. We also added 10 other chemicals to our scale. Battery acid – 0 Saliva – 7 Ammonia – 12 Blood -7 H2S04 – 1 KOH – 13 Urine – 6 Stomach acid -1 Ocean water - 8 Rolaids – 10 Mountain Dew – 3 Next, we went over the different zones in the ocean (intertidal, neretic and oceanic). These notes go on page 96. Here is the powerpoint for these notes. Lastly, we updated our table of contents, and went over the pages in our notebook and did a review of vocabulary.
